Return Date Confirmed for Queensberry Promotions
After creating plans for Queensberry Promotions to return to action in July, Frank Warren has announced several matches to take place starting on July 10.
In a release, Warren announced that Brad Foster will be defending the British Super-Bantamweight Title against James Beech, British Super-Featherweight Champion Anthony Cacace facing Lyon Woodstock, and Commonwealth and British Super-Middleweight Champion Lerrone Richards facing Umar Sadiq. Each fight will get its own separate date and will be featured on BT Sport.
“I am thrilled to inform the fans that the wait for live boxing to return is coming to an end,” said Warren. “It has been a long haul and a trying time for everyone but we can now see the first flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.
“I am so excited to get going again after a period of unprecedented planning and detail to get to where we are. Unfortunately, boxing without fans at the venue is the new, but I am sure temporary, normal and we have made it our business to bring the sport back at the earliest opportunity in line with government guidelines regarding health and safety protocols.
“Our opening show on July 10 is just for starters and we will be looking to go bigger and better as we move along in our summer season that will see us deliver at least five TV shows.
The first matchup will have Foster (12-0-2), who is coming off of a win against Lucien Reid in February, facing off against Beech. Foster defended the Super-Bantamweight Title for the third time after winning it in March 2019.
Cacace (18-1) won the Super-Featherweight Title against Sam Bowen in November. He is currently on a three-fight win streak. Williams (13-0) won the Commonwealth Title against Tommy Langford in April 2019. He ended up retaining the title and winning the British Super-Middleweight Title against Lennox Clarke in November.
Other fights and fighters joining the Foster v. Beech card on July 10 include:
- Hamzah Sheeraz (10-0) (c) v. Scot Paul Kean (12-1) – WBO European Super-Welterwieght Championship
- David Adeleye (1-0)
- Mark ‘Da Bomb’ Chamberlain (5-0)
“This is just the beginning,” Warren continued. “It’s going to be a magnificent summer of Great British boxing, so sit back and enjoy every round live on BT Sport.”
