Returning Horn To Face Tszyu In Australia Clash
It will be a battle to determine Australia’s number one boxer, as Jeff Horn will make his return against Tim Tszyu. The fight will take place on Wednesday, April 22 inside Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville.
Horn (20-2-1) is 4-2 in his last six fights and 2-2 in his last four. Following a controversial win over Manny Pacquiao in 2017 for the WBO Welterweight Title, Horn beat Gary Corcoran before losing the belt to Terence Crawford in 2018. He then beat Anthony Mundine to become the WBO Oriental and WBA Oceania Middleweight Champion. “The Hornet” lost the titles to Michael Zerafa before beating him the rematch back in December. That majority decision win was his last bout.
“I’ve got the experience in there to take away Tim’s tools and to get this victory,”Horn stated, via BoxingScene. “I don’t know how that’s going to happen, whether it’s going to be a stoppage or not. We’re always looking for a knockout, but a points victory is a victory.”
Horn is set to face the undefeated 25-year-old Tszyu (15-0). The orthodox fighter has eleven wins via knockout, earning his latest one against Jack Brubaker back in December.
“I’m a warrior,” Tszyu stated. “We’re boxers, we have to be ready for a war. You have got to give everything. You’ve got to be ready to die in the ring. I don’t want to give predictions, but I’m coming to fight, I’m coming to win.”
Horn has been requesting this fight for a while, and he finally got his wish. A world title fight is expected for the winner of this bout.
