Vasyl Lomachenko’s victory over Richard Commey showed that the Ukrainian is more than just a technical fighter.
In 2021, Lomachenko dominated the ring for 12 rounds, leading to a unanimous decision in his favor. In fact, he was so superior that he requested Commey’s corner to end the fight on two occasions.
On the first occasion, Lomachenko landed a powerful left hand knocking Commey down in the seventh.
Lomachenko had Commey in a vulnerable state once again, but he did not attack his opponent, allowing Commey’s corner to decide the fate of their fighter.
But now that the dust has settled down somewhat, Commey did not view Lomachenko’s antics in high regard.
“I was like come on, man, you don’t do that. I’m a man. That night, with the fight being at 135 lbs, I had a few problems, I was below the weight.
“So I wasn’t really happy, I was like come on, I’m a man, I’m a soldier, but it was a great opportunity to fight him,” Commey
Lomachenko will need to rediscover that form if he is to come out victorious against Devin Haney on May 20th, 2023, to finally achieve his aspirations of becoming the undisputed champion.
