Ritson Edges Davies in 12-Round War

The fight between Lewis Ritson and Robbie Davies Jr. was a grudge match filled with hard punches from bell to bell, but in the end, it’s Ritson who got the decision win.

The bout headlined a Matchroom Boxing card at the Newcastle Arena in England.

Both men came out firing heavy leather almost right away, and they actually picked up the pace when the second round started. It was Davies, however, who seemed to be the quicker of the two and got a bit of an edge in the third round by landing the more damaging punches.

But Ritson started to move the fight in his favor in the fifth by working several combinations on Davies. Ritson turned it up again as the fight went past the halfway point.

After Davies answered back in the ninth round and a quieter 10th, both unloaded their gas tanks over the final two rounds, with Ritson backing Davies up and Davies landing a hard body shot on Ritson.

Ritson was given the nod on all three judges’ scorecards: 117-112, 116-112 and 116-112.
