Roach Talks Pacquiao-Broner

For the first time in nearly two decades, Freddie Roach was on the outside looking in at Manny Pacquiao, as the Filipino senator/boxer would choose Buboy Fernandez over Roach for his most recent fight.

Now, with a potential showdown against Adrien Broner on the horizon, Fight Hub went to the legendary trainer for his thoughts on this alleged January faceoff.

“Umm, that’s a pretty good fight,” Roach said in the interview. “I wouldn’t pick a winner in that. I think that Pacquiao should win the fight but, um, at ‘47 I’m not [sure] — I’m not involved anymore so I’m not in the mix, so I don’t know what he’s doing. So it’s hard for me to give you an answer without being there.”

While he thought Manny looked “very good” against Matthysse, Broner is completely different.

“I saw the Matthysse fight, he looked like he fought very well and, I mean, Broner is nothing like that, though. I mean, there’s no similarities at all with those two really opposite guys.”
