Roberson Out Of UFC Jacksonville Due To Medical Issue
The UFC’s latest event taking place tonight, May 13 will be going on without one fight. Karl Roberson will not be competing against Marvin Vettori as planned. The former is off the card as a result of weight-related, non-COVID-19 issues.
“Due to medical issues unrelated to COVID-19 after his weight cut, Karl Roberson has been pulled from his Wednesday bout with Marvin Vettori at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.”
Roberson (9-2) missed weight yesterday when he came in at 187.5 pounds, over the middleweight limit. He is on a two-fight win streak, and 4-2 in his last six fights. There is an option for Roberson to move weight divisions, but it is unknown if that transition will happen.
Vettori (14-4-1) made weight for the fight at 185. He is on a two-fight win streak and is 3-1-1 in his last five fights. This is not the first time Vettori had a bout nixed at the last minute. He was originally set to face off against Darren Stewart at UFC London last month, but the event was one of several postponed as a result of the coronavirus. The 26-year-old was recently compensated by the UFC for his troubles.
Due to Roberson missing weight, Vettori was meant to take 20% of his purse.
