Robert Garcia Shades Joshua, Claims Tank Davis Would Beat Him

Robert Garcia has mocked his ex-fighter Anthony Joshua by claiming that Gervonta Davis would beat him.

Joshua parted ways with Garcia after just one fight, as he had hired the American for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite this being the case, the result was the same as ‘AJ’ suffered another loss at the hands of the Ukrainian.

Thereafter, Joshua parted ways with Garcia as both of them expressed discontent with their working relationship.

“In my mind I was like, I didn’t feel like I was being taught anything, so I didn’t think it mattered if I spent a year [with him], I was still going to do my thing anyway,” Joshua said

“He [Joshua] could be surrounded by nothing but yes men, but the trainer has to be real to him. If the trainer is also a yes man, then the trainer is not a real person.

“I have the responsibility to say what I see, and be honest with him. When the fighter comes out saying “I didn’t like a comment he made,” what do you expect me to say?

“I could be a yes man too, and get paid and not give a f***. There are trainers like that, but I’m not one of them,” Garcia stated

As such, Joshua hired the services of Derrick James. At the same time, he was very critical of his other ex-trainer Rob McCracken by claiming that the latter did not teach him defence.

With that being said, when Garcia was asked about the possibility of Gervonta Davis facing Joshua in a hypothetical bout, he backed ‘Tank’ to win.

“Tank probably beats Anthony Joshua,” Garcia
