Robert Guerrero Opens Up About Upcoming Victor Ortiz Bout
Boxing legend Robert Guerrero is eager to trade haymakers with Victor Ortiz as the two boxing juggernauts prepare for their 10-round welterweight duel on Saturday, August 21 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Guerrero and Ortiz will lock horns as co-feature of the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas welterweight world title fight.
Guerrero, 38, is anticipating a world-class showdown.
“The one thing is you know Victor Ortiz comes to fight and I come to fight all the time, so it’s gonna be a great fight,” the former world champ said in a recent interview.
The 38-year-old has remained on the sidelines for a few years now.
He feels that he could have returned to the ring amid the coronavirus pandemic, but decided to extend the layoff due to his wife’s worsening health condition.
“Just being safe. Everyone knows my wife has a real low immune system from cancer, so just wanted to be safe and not running around to different places. She’s doing great but you still take those steps of precaution with what she’s been through because her immune system isn’t as strong as a normal person,” Guerrero added.
Guerrero said that he kept his body in shape during the pandemic, thanks to his gym at home where his father trained him. Apart from weight training, the boxing veteran said he focus on his feet movements as well.
