Rockhold Re-Injures Leg, Next Fight On Hold

Luke Rockhold will be out of the fight game for a few months after re-injuring his leg.

Rockhold, who was rumored to face Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 in Los Angeles on August 4, re-injured his leg during training last week and Ariel Helwani posted a couple of graphic videos of Rockhold getting his shin stitched up. Rockhold vs. Gustafsson had not been officially announced, however, but this latest injury to Rockhold almost certainly tables any talk of Rockhold fighting in August.

The 33-year-old Rockhold has not fought since February when he was knocked out by Yoel Romero in the third round of their UFC 221 main event fight. Rockhold, a former UFC middleweight champion, is expected to be out until October at the earliest.

Gustafsson is on a two-fight win streak and is coming off a knockout win over Glover Teixeira all the way back in May 2017.
