Rodriguez-Stephens On-Weight For Mexico City

All but one of the 24 fighters who took to the scale on Friday were on-weight for September 21st’s UFC on ESPN+ 17 card.

Headliners Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens were on-weight, meeting the 145-pound weight limit for featherweights, while co-main eventers Alexa Grasso and Carla Esparza made weight for their strawweight bout.

Esparza came in at 115 pounds on the nose, while Grasso was the first to weigh-in on Friday morning, weighing in at 116 pounds, utilizing a one-pound allowance.

The only fighter to miss weight prior to the UFC’s return to Mexico is the debuting Vanessa Melo, who would come in five pounds over the 135-pound bantamweight limit, weighing in second to last on Friday morning.

While she had an hour to drop the five pounds needed to make weight, Melo aired on the side of caution and was fine with taking a 30% hit on her purse to keep her fight with Irene Aldana on Saturday night.
