Rogan Signs Record Deal With Spotify Worth $100 Million

While he is known as being one of the main voices of the UFC, past and present, Joe Rogan is known by many outside of the world of MMA. That is a result of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. With over 1,400 episodes and over 190 million downloads, the podcast has become a true influential phenomenon. Now, it looks like the audience will grow exponentially.

The Wall Street Journal announced that Rogan signed a deal for the podcast to be on Spotify. Worth over $100 million, the multi-year deal will see Rogan elevate the podcast business on the music platform service. It will only be available on Spotify on September 1. That includes video footage. Rogan confirmed the news on his YouTube channel.

While tentative at first, Rogan chose Spotify as a result of the company being serious about acquiring other media companies and podcasts.

“Bringing the JRE to Spotify will mean that the platform’s more than 286 million active users will have access to one of culture’s leading voices,” Spotify stated in a release. “By partnering with Spotify, Rogan and his team will enjoy the support of the world’s leading audio platform. ”

The Joe Rogan Experience has had guests from all different backgrounds. There are MMA stars, including Brendan Schaub, who has become a co-host of sorts during many shows. Rogan has also gotten into the world of politics, entertainment, and medicine. From those fields, guests include Jake Roberts, Mike Tyson, Robert Downey Jr., Elon Musk, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Dr. Rhonda Patrick. When the coronavirus was starting to affect the United States as well as the world, Rogan brought on Michael Osterholm to give a professional take on the virus.

Rogan went on Instagram to state that the podcast will be free and that Spotify will not have creative control. The JRE is currently ranked second overall as one of the top podcasts in the world.
