Rolando Romero Says He’s ‘Too Big And Too Strong’ For Gervonta Davis
Rolando Romero said he knows he has a few advantages over Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
Of his advantages, Romero is bigger than 5-foot-5 tall Davis, he said.
“Man, I’m too big and too strong for him. I’m twice his size, and on top of that, I punch harder, faster, and I’m a better boxer than him,” Romero told The Schmo.
“No matter what he says, that’s the truth. He’s fighting an uphill battle…
“He’s probably in the best shape of his f— life, but it doesn’t make a difference. He’s going to be laid out on the damn canvas.”
Romero, 26, is 5-foot-8 and has a 68-inch reach to Davis’ 67 ½-inch reach.
Like Davis, Romero is also undefeated and has knocked out almost 86% of his opponents.
In his last outing, Romero technically knocked out Anthony Yigit in the seventh round and became the WBA interim world lightweight titleholder.
Meanwhile, Davis knocks out 92% of his opponents.
In his last fight against late replacement Isaac Cruz, he was taken to the distance for the first time in seven years and some fans thought Cruz had done enough to upset the champion.
The two met again for yesterday’s media workout and Romero didn’t hesitate with his predictions of the outcome for May 28.
“One round, I’m knocking him out. If I say I’m going to do it, then I’m going to do it,” he said.
“… “I don’t like ‘Tank’ as a person and I believe he’s going to get whupped in this fight.”
