Rolando Romero’s Trainer Hoping For A Clash With Isaac Cruz
Former pro boxer turned trainer Cromwell Gorden has refused to respond to his critics. He pushed his fighter Rolando “Rolly” Romero into a showdown against Gervonta Davis on May 28.
A fully packed crowd at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center witnessed Davis deliver a knockout blow in the sixth round, sullying Romero’s record.
As he had to admit defeat and return to the drawing board, Gordon was confident that the 27-year-old would bounce back handsomely.
In terms of his opponent, the former pro boxer was hopeful that a deal would be secured sooner rather than later.
“We would like the rematch,” continued Gordon.
“If we don’t get that, we’re looking at maybe someone that wants to fight us, which is not a lot of people that want to fight Rolly.
Determined to use this defeat as an opportunity rather than a setback, Gordon believes that Romero should continue pushing for heights. Moreover, he wants Davis to give an immediate rematch to the American boxer.
“Pitbull is a willing and able opponent. I think that’s a good fight. I think it’s a very, very good fight. I think it would sell as well.”
“He’ll be an easier fight than Tank because you’re gonna stand there and go toe-to-toe. Rolly’s hitting harder than these guys. If you’re standing in front of Rolly you’re just a punching bag.”
