Rolly Romero Signs For Unification vs. Haney

Rolando Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) says he has signed his end of the contract to unify his WBA Welterweight Title against WBC champion Devin Haney on May 30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Last May, Romero secured a unanimous decision win over Ryan Garcia in Times Square to win the regular WBA belt. He was subsequently elevated to a full champ once Jaron Ennis vacated and moved up to 154. While Romero was linked with fights against Manny Pacquiao and his WBA mandatory Shakhram Giyasov, those fights never got made.

Pacquiao will rematch Floyd Mayweather in September, while a unification takes precedence over Romero’s mandatory. Although Haney was linked with a Ryan Garcia rematch, the latter has also suggested a desire to face Shakur Stevenson. So subject to an announcement being made, Romero will face Haney. The following post shows Romero confirming he has signed the contract, as he also mocked Devin’s punch power.
