WBO number one ranked cruiserweight and Inter-Continental champion Roman Fress (23-1, 13 KOs) will face WBO Europe champion and number ten ranked Armend Xhoxhaj (23-4, 12 KOs) in a rematch on May 30 at the Magdeburg Exhibition Center, with three titles on the line.
The winner will claim the number one mandatory challenger position for the WBO world cruiserweight title, now held by David Benavidez following his sixth-round knockout of Gilberto Ramirez in Las Vegas earlier this month. The two fighters previously met in May 2022, where Xhoxhaj handed Fress the only defeat of his professional career.
The rematch carries significant personal stakes for Fress, who has since rebuilt his record and established himself as the division’s top-ranked contender with 8 straight wins since their first fight. Xhoxhaj arrives with identical world title ambitions. He has five wins in a row, with the last 3 coming by stoppage.
