Romero vs. Branch Confirmed for UFC on FOX 28
Yoel Romero and former WSOF Middleweight Champion David Branch will collide in a pivotal match-up in the UFC’s 185-pound division at UFC on FOX 28.
The bout will be a three-round one, per MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. The signing of this match comes just weeks after Branch called out Romero on Twitter.
@YoelRomeroMMA people have reason to be feared by you my friend. I want to fight the most dangerous people in the world and you’re one of them. February 24 @UFCONFOX Orlando I would like to do battle with you 👊🏿 @Mickmaynard2 @danawhite

Romero will look to rebound following his first loss inside the UFC Octagon — which occurred back in the main event of UFC 213 in July, losing an interim middleweight title fight to current UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker by unanimous decision. Prior to that loss, Romero had won 12 of his first 13 professional MMA bouts, and he was undefeated in the UFC with big KO/TKO victories over the likes of Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy and Derek Brunson.
Branch, meanwhile, seeks a bounce-back win after losing to Luke Rockhold back at a UFC Fight Night in September, where he was forced to tap due to strikes. Branch’s other UFC bout was a split-decision win over Krzysztof Jotko at UFC 211 back in May. In World Series of Fighting, Branch was the inaugural middleweight and light heavyweight champion, actively defending both titles.
UFC on FOX 28 takes place on Feb. 24 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
