Romero Vs. Lopez Agreed

Rolly Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs) have agreed to meet for Romero’s WBA welterweight title on August 22 in Las Vegas, with Lopez confirming the deal.

Romero makes the first defense of the WBA welterweight title he claimed after beating Ryan Garcia in May 2025, while Lopez moves up to 147 pounds in pursuit of a world title in a third weight class, having previously held belts at lightweight and junior welterweight. Lopez is looking to bounce back from his loss to Shakur Stevenson in January where he lost his WBO junior welterweight title. An official announcement with venue details is expected shortly, but both sides have confirmed the date and location.
