Romero vs Lopez Rumors

Rumors have it that Rolando “Rolly” Romero will be defending his WBA welterweight championship against former 140-pound world titleholder Teofimo Lopez this August in Las Vegas.

In his last outing, in May 2025, Romero secured the vacant WBA ‘regular’ title in a massive upset over Ryan Garcia. He was later upgraded to WBA ‘super’ welterweight champion which is his current title status, and will likely remain as such into the potential match in August.

Meanwhile, Lopez had his last match this January, and fell short on the judges’ scorecards to Shakur Stevenson, submitting his super lightweight belt in the process. In recent months, ‘Teo’ has been quite vocal about moving up to the welterweight division, and it seems he could be getting the title shot he was hoping for in his debut.
