Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (12-2-0) says she will only continue fighting after her May 16 Gina Carano fight if there is a compelling reason to do so, such as a rematch.
Rousey, 39, hasn’t competed in MMA since December 2016 after her stoppage loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Rousey personally reached out to Carano while nine months pregnant with her second daughter in late 2024, stating that was the only fight she would come back for. Rousey has been open about her desire to continue expanding her family once this fight is over, while she also outlined her neurological issues which impacted her decision to walk away from MMA. Rousey was firm that this isn’t the start of a title run.
“I’m done fighting after this. Unless something goes down in this match that it deserves a trilogy from me and Gina. But I promised my husband, I promised my sister, everybody that this is my last one. I want to have more kids, too,” Rousey saidÂ
