In a story originally reported by pro wrestling website Squared Circle Sirens, former UFC womens bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has released footage of her training for a potential pro wrestling debut.
Rousey, first rumored to be training for a WWE appearance or possible career by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, during the WWE’s Mae Young Classic earlier this year; has kept quiet on her future being in a ring or a cage. On Friday, Rousey released a teaser video for her new website.
In the teaser, Rousey not only shows her in her daily life and traveling the world, but also training at the Santino Bros wrestling school with current WWE star Natalya (niece to Bret Hart and daughter to former wrestling Jim Neidhart), and training at the WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Rousey’s love for pro wrestling has been well publicized, starting with her relationship with “Judo” Gene Lebell a former wrestler and son of Eileen Eaton who ran the Los Angeles’ wrestling territory with her other son Mike. Lebell, who was a friend and mentor to the late Roddy Piper, passed on to Rousey the nickname “Rowdy,” which was Piper’s nickname.
She has also appeared on-camera and in the ring at Wrestlemania two years ago with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and along with her other four horsewomen, with the WWE’s version which features Charlotte Flair, daughter of Ric Flair.
Speculation has been building around these two factions, or their two leaders facing off at the upcoming Wrestlemania this spring, in New Orleans.
