Gabriel Rosado and Bektemir Melikuziev face each other again on the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia card, in a follow up to their first encounter in 2021 when the former knocked out his opponent in the third round.
Melikuziev (11-1, 9 KO) was dominating his opponent, even knocking him to the canvas in the first round.
While that may have been the case, Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KO) pulled out a lethal right hand to finish the bout, as he was pushed against the ropes. But ever since that moment, the 37-year-old, Rosado, has not been in the best of form.
He has lost his last three fights, but he has another opportunity to prove his worth as his initial fight with Gilberto Ramirez was called off when the latter could not make weight.
Their fight was meant to be at 175 lbs, however, since that did not materialize, Rosado decided to drop down to 168 lbs for the rematch.
This may play a part, as the drop in weight could impact the aging Rosado. And yet, he aims to show that the victory was not a one off.
“I am taking this as a challenge. I am taking it personally that he thought the first fight was a fluke. It upset me. That’s my motivation. I did it once and will do it again.
“Boxing is in my blood, it’s in my DNA. I am a fighter in life. Inside of the ring and outside of it. This is what I do,” Rosado
