Rose Namajunas Recalls Conor McGregor’s Bus Attack
Rose Namajunas has gone back to the time when Conor McGregor attacked a fighter bus that she was on.
Back in April 2018, the UFC had just wrapped up a media day session ahead of a pay-per-view event. This was for UFC 223 in Brooklyn, NY. The card was headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov. Earlier in the week, Khabib and his team cornered Artem Lobov in a hotel lobby. This enraged McGregor, who flew in his entourage from Dublin to attack the bus holding Nurmagomedov.
Since that time it has been well-documented that Namajunas suffered mental strain as a result of the incident. During an edition of UFC Year of the Fighter: Rose Namajunas, “Thug” Rose discussed what it was like to be on the bus at that time (h/t MMAJunkie.com).
“It was like an eternity being in that bus, because I had no idea who that was that was attacking us. All of a sudden I see a big ol’ fist kind of bang on my window and then I see one of the security guards grab one of the dudes. I didn’t know it was Conor until a little bit later. When he threw the dolly, the bus was backing up into the elevator spot as he threw it to the window right in front of me. But had the bus not been moving, it would have hit my window.”
Namajunas went through with her title defense against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in their rematch. The two went the distance in a barn burner. Namajunas retrained the UFC Strawweight Title via unanimous decision.
