Rousey On The Judo Grip

A multi-time medalist in judo, Ronda Rousey used her skills to become one of the most dominant MMA fighters of her time. Now, her skills can be yours.

During quarantine, Rousey (12-2) has been making videos on her YouTube page to pass time. Due to the coronavirus, she has been showing people how to be sustainable while also sharing how to grow food for future use. This week’s video is how to perform one of her favorite judo moves, the High Grip.

Using husband Travis Browne as an example, Rousey’s instructions are the following:

  • Slap to Grip Seam At Opponent’s Shoulder
  • Grip Sleeve At The Seam
  • Don’t Try If Opponent Is Taller
  • Turn Out Hand To “Make A Table”

Rousey won bronze in the 2008 Olympics, Silver in the 2007 World Championships and gold in the 2007 Pan American Games. Following a judo career, she moved onto MMA where she became UFC Bantamweight Champion. Retiring from MMA following losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, Rousey joined WWE, becoming a WWE Women’s Champion in 2018.
