Roxanne Modafferi Vs. Andrea Lee Reportedly Set For September UFC Card
A quick turnaround bout for Roxanne Modafferi may be in play. A win could be a huge rebound for the flyweight, as well as for her apparent challenger.
According to MMA Junkie, Modafferi will face off against Andrea Lee on September 12. The fight would be a rematch six years in the making.
Modafferi (24-17) would be fighting in her third fight in 2020. She just fought on June 20, losing to Lauren Murphy via unanimous decision. The 37-year-old has been trading wins and losses since her UFC debut in 2017, going 3-4 for the promotion. Losing in The Ultimate Fighter finale for the UFC Flyweight Title, Modafferi hoped to return to title contention after beating Maycee Barber this past January.
Lee (11-4) made her UFC debut in 2018. After earning three wins in a row, “KGB” is currently on a two-fight losing streak. She lost to Joanne Calderwood in September and Lauren Murphy this past February at UFC 247, both via split decision.
Modafferi is ranked seventh in the UFC’s flyweight rankings while Lee is ranked ninth. The two are familiar with one another, as “The Happy Warrior” beat Lee via split decision at Invicta FC 10 in 2014.
There is no official main event for the UFC event in September. As far as a location, it is expected to take place inside the UFC’s APEX Center in las Vegas, Nevada.
