Roy Jones, Tim Bradley React To Haney Vs. Loma Result – ‘Go Back And Redo It’
Several boxing experts have been vocal about Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko’s recent fight following the controversy over the result.
Haney walked away with a unanimous-decision win to retain his undisputed lightweight titles. But in the process, several former boxers were vocal about the decision.
Shakur Stevenson labeled it a ‘robbery,’ while Paulie Malignaggi was also outraged by the decision.
With that being said, Roy Jones Jr. has called for the two to run their fight back as a draw would have been a fair result.
“I thought the fight could have gone either way, which is why I would have given it a draw, and with a draw, the champion [Haney] does keep his belt, and we go back and redo it,” Jones said.
In the same way, Tim Bradley backed up Jones’ comments that the fight could have gone either way.
“But after watching it twice already, this is what I came up with. I can make an argument for both guys on why they won, for both guys.
“Not just Haney, but I can also make an argument for Lomachenko. This is one of the hardest fights to judge,” Bradley stated.
However, the chances of a rematch appear slim. Haney is likely to target other fighters either in the 135 lb division or move up to 140 lbs.
This is particularly since Malignaggi confirmed that Top Rank’s Bob Arum had already re-signed Haney two days before the fight, indicating that other bigger fights were in the pipeline irrespective of the Loma result.
Regardless of whether there is a rematch, Lomachenko was on hand to thank all his fans for the support they had shown him following the result.

“Hi everyone, I’ve received a lot of messages from fans around the world. It’s very, very nice and I’m very happy to read your very, very warm words.
“I just wanted to say a big thank you for your support, [everybody] who came to Saturday night and saw what happened that night.
“But it is what it is. It’s life, life is not cancelled. God bless all the people around the world,” Lomachenko
