Ruiz Turned Down WWE Deal, “Stick To Boxing”

It seems Tyson Fury wasn’t the only boxer on the WWE and KSA’s wishlist for their October 31st event in Saudi Arabia.

Current unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr said that the pro wrestling leader contacted him regarding a potential appearance inside the ring to coincide with his own Saudi showdown on December 7th against Anthony Joshua.

“They invited me to go a while back when I won the title,” Ruiz said of the WWE. “They invited me to go over there and check it out.”

“But you know what, boxing is my life so this is the only thing I know how to do besides being with my family.”

“I’m going to stick to boxing and accomplish more and maybe down the line we’ll look for something else to do,” Ruiz told the Daily Mail as he prepares for the world title rematch against Joshua.

Speaking of the showdown in the custom-built arena, Ruiz’s confidence is tempered by Joshua’s skill.

He’s going to try and win by points. Especially since he’s going to be running around,” the champion said of his opponent.

“My job is to cut the ring, and that’s exactly what we’ve been training for. I don’t really worry about what he’s doing, you know. We have to worry about what we’re doing. He has to train hard”

“I feel that he has more pressure than I do. I just have to do what I have to do, and just let my hands go and focus.”
