Rumble Johnson Slams Paulo Costa: ‘Grow Some Balls’

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has some harsh words for Paulo Costa.

On September 26, Costa challenged Israel Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship. The title fight headlined UFC 253 inside the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. “The Last Stylebender” had a dominant performance, stopping the challenger in the second round via TKO.

Costa didn’t take too kindly to Adesanya’s post-fight antics where he went behind “Borrachinha” and proceeded to “ride” him. Appearing on the Real Quick w/Mike Swick podcast, “Rumble” blasted Costa for his response to what transpired post-fight (h/t MMAMania.com).

“Stylebender was serious, Costa came in thinking that he’s just a white belt, he’s nothing, he’s skinny. Hey, being skinny has its advantages, dude. I don’t understand all of a sudden either why Costa is getting so upset after he saw what Stylebender did to him, you know? I was like ‘Dude, you were the one talking so much and then he gets you at the end and now you mad? Because he embarrassed you? Come on man, grow some balls. Man up to that.’ It is what it is. You can’t demand a rematch either after a performance like that either. That’s not smart. That’s not gonna sell for sure.”

Adesanya has been adding insult to injury on social media with memes of Costa. He appears to have simmered down, however, as he is turning his attention back to Jon Jones. As for Johnson, he has plans of returning to the UFC in the light-heavyweight division. “Rumble” recently re-entered the USADA testing pool.

Johnson last competed in the UFC back on April 8, 2017. He was submitted by Daniel Cormier in his second bid for the UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship. After the fight, “Rumble” announced his retirement. He is now ready to make his return and go after UFC gold one more time.
