Run It Back: David Michaud Reflects On His Hard-Fought Wins

While he didn’t win the finals of the Professional Fighters League, David Michaud had a run to remember. The MMA veteran walked into the PFL riding a four-fight win streak and although he lost the first fight of the new season, Michaud (18-6) ended up turning heads right after.

The PFL’s “Run it Back” series has returned, focusing on the top fighters who competed in the PFL. It will be streaming live on the PFL’s social media pages almost every Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Already covered: 2019 PFL Lightweight Champion Kayla Harrison2019 PFL Welterweight Champion Ray Cooper III, and 2018 PFL Champion Sean O’Connell.

Joining host Sean O’Connell, Michaud discussed his epic run in Las Vegas where he competed in the quarter and semifinals on the same night. He survived a war with John Howard before engaging in a bloody battle with Glaico Franca. How does Michaud feel about the format?

“I felt tired, my body felt a little bit tired. Not too bad. I didn’t feel like I wasn’t able to go, but maybe it was a lot of mental too,” Michaud stated. “I’m sure that if all I had to fight was John Howard I’d be laying the back, eating pizza.

In the fight against Franca, Michaud was hit below the belt and headbutted at the same time, resulting in a serious cut. He let loose after, however, and landed several hooks and uppercuts to earn the majority decision win. To him, it felt good to get a win over an opponent who had a 7 1/2 reach advantage.

While he lost to Ray Cooper III in the PFL Finals, Michaud is ready to go one again and fight his way to $1 million.

Future “Run it Back” episodes will include Louis Taylor (4/30), Natan Schulte (5/7), and Lance Palmer (5/14).
