Ryan Bader Ready For All Challengers, Talks Potential Kongo Rematch

When it comes to defending both his Bellator Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Titles, Ryan Bader is not one who runs away from a fight. “Darth” Bader (27-5, 1NC) spoke to FIGHT SPORTS during Bellator’s All-Star Press Conference about having a target on his back.

He also discussed defending both of his belts, a rarity when double-champions are created.


Bader is set to defend his Light Heavyweight Title against Vadim Nemkov at Bellator 242 on May 9 from inside the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

During the actual press conference, FIGHT SPORTS asked Bader about potentially facing Cheick Kongo in a rematch. Back at Bellator 226, Kongo had the fight stopped after stating that Bader poked him in the eye. Bader refuted those claims, and was very willing to give Kongo a rematch. He also got into it with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson afterward the bout, and although Bader believes he doesn’t deserves a title shot, the 36-year-old was also interested in fighting Jackson again.

Bellator President Scott Coker was also interested in getting something going for Bader.
