Ryan Garcia Asks For De La Hoya’s Lawsuit To Be Dropped
Ryan Garcia has reportedly asked to have Golden Boy’s lawsuit against him dismissed.
The two sides have been engaged in a legal dispute ever since Garcia alleged that his contract had been breached. In response, Golden Boy issued a lawsuit in an attempt to enforce their current contract.
Ryan Garcia filed a motion to dismiss GBP’s suit against him Monday in Nevada, which was obtained by ESPN.
Garcia argues his contract stipulates that any disagreement be mediated first. GBP filed suit against Garcia in June to enforce its contract. https://t.co/z45mcUCInT

According to ESPN, Garcia has now issued a filing to have the lawsuit dismissed. This was on the basis that both parties must undergo mediation before any lawsuits can be issued.
It is claimed that Garcia had demanded mediation after sending a letter of intention to Golden Boy. However, this was allegedly ignored by Golden Boy who resorted to the lawsuit.
“[Golden Boy] did not agree to cure the breaches identified in the June 9 letter and did not agree to or participate in any mediation proceedings. Rather … [Golden Boy] rushed to court and publicly filed the instant lawsuit.”
It is not clear if this will bring the two sides closer, but one thing for sure is that Garcia must focus on getting his career back on track. And there is no getting away from that.
