Ryan Garcia Confident Of Beating Shakur Stevenson

Ryan Garcia remains confident that he will beat Shakur Stevenson.

The two boxers traded words on social media before Garcia’s fight with Oscar Duarte. Garcia singled out Stevenson’s below-par performance against Edwin De Los Santos despite Shakur winning the WBC belt. The three-division champion fought on the defensive, keeping De Los Santos away with his jab, as he won a unanimous decision. The crowd, in response, booed Stevenson.

However, it turned out he may have injured his hand coming into the fight. But Garcia had not been impressed by what he saw, as he expressed his desire to humble Stevenson’s arrogance and his disrespect towards him. Shakur, in response, agreed to fight Garcia at a catchweight. And following his knockout win over Oscar Duarte, Shakur described what he saw as ‘weaknesses’ in Garcia’s game. And yet, Garcia was confident in his ability to beat Stevenson.

“He’s just been a hater since the amateurs, for real. And I want to fight him, I’ll beat his ass, I promise you that. I’ve been in the ring with him. He’s cool, but he’s scared all the time. Scared, scared, scared. In a pro fight, it’s not gonna work,” Garcia

Stevenson is undefeated and has titles in three weight classes. Meanwhile, Garcia has yet to win a world title and has suffered a loss on the biggest stage after being stopped by Gervonta Davis in the seventh round. With that being said, boxing fans felt Garcia would come up short.
