Ryan Garcia Contacts Devin Haney To Make The Fight

Ryan Garcia has contacted Devin Haney about making a fight.

Speculation over a fight began after Garcia reacted to Haney’s impressive win over Regis Prograis. ‘The Dream’ dominated his opponent, winning every round to become the new WBC junior welterweight champion. Garcia responded by calling out Haney with a view to fighting in 2024.

“Good stuff tonight congrats but this year we are going to run it!!! One thing is certain in my eyes is that Haney and I will fight in 2024,” Garcia continued. “You can hold me to it unless it’s not in God’s will,” Garcia said

Garcia has stuck by those words. He recently beat Oscar Duarte in his first fight under Derrick James with an eighth-round stoppage of the Mexican. Now, the focus is Haney.

Garcia and Haney both fought on DAZN in their last fight. So provided the purse makes sense, there is a high chance of it happening. Haney intends to fight for bigger purses, something he made clear following the Prograis win. Since Garcia sold over 1.2 million PPVs against Gervonta Davis, which got him $30 million, those numbers are more than enough to get Haney in the ring. A victory could set up a fight with Davis as both Haney and Garcia, in a rematch, are open to facing him. Even if it is not Haney next, Garcia’s aim was to fight in April.

“I want to get back by March or April. Inactivity really crushed me. I’ve been boxing [as a pro] since I was 17. I’ve had my breaks, a year, a year-and-a-half… you’re not going to become a better boxer that way,” Garcia stated
