Ryan Garcia believes Gervonta Davis knows deep down that he will get knocked out inside two rounds.
Garcia and Davis have been exchanging words over a potential clash. Following his interim WBC Lightweight Title win over Luke Campbell, “KingRy” set his sights on a showdown with “Tank.” It appears the bout is on the backburner as Garcia is seeking a clash with Manny Pacquiao. That matchup would reportedly be an exhibition if a deal can be made.
During an appearance on Stephen A’s World, Garcia expressed his belief that Davis may want to avoid him because he isn’t confident in his abilities (via BoxingScene.com).
“Man, honestly, we just have to see with time. I know I will KO Gervonta Davis in two rounds, and he knows that. He senses that. And I’m being generous. In the first round, I might let him survive just so I can fulfill my promise. You know how I know he’s scared? He’s saying I’m on steroids. That shows you that he’s really scared. Come on now, I don’t need anything. I’m worried about squeezing every ounce of greatness out of a fight, not every ounce of dollars … If he doesn’t end up fighting me sooner rather than later, his legacy will forever be tainted. Remember that.”
Garcia hasn’t been shy in making a bold prediction should he share the ring with Davis. “KingRy” has pulled out his crystal ball and sees a knockout victory within two rounds. Time will tell if these two lightweight titans will eventually collide.
