Ryan Garcia Linked With A Rematch

A rematch between WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia (25-2) and WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero (17-2) is being discussed for later this year.

Romero claimed the WBA Regular welterweight title via a unanimous decision over Ryan on May 3, 2025, in a major upset before being upgraded to a full champion once Jaron Ennis vacated and moved up to 154. Garcia has since returned to winning ways, beating Mario Barrios to secure his first world title in the form of the WBC welterweight title on February 21.

While Garcia has been linked with Conor Benn, his WBC mandatory, promotional differences between Zuffa and Golden Boy means a Romero rematch could happen. Romero’s proposed unification with the WBO champion Devin Haney also fell apart due to financial disagreements, paving the way for a Garcia rematch.
