Ryan Garcia On Facing Tank Davis Again
Ryan Garcia (25-2-0) took to social media on the three-year anniversary of his first career defeat to demand a second chance against Gervonta Davis.
Garcia’s comments focused on the conditions of their original April 22, 2023, meeting at T-Mobile Arena, where Davis stopped him with a seventh-round body shot. Garcia has long maintained that the 136-pound catchweight and a strict 10-pound rehydration clause left him physically compromised. The call-out coincided with the exact date of their first fight, reigniting a debate as to whether a rehydrated Garcia could beat Davis at 140 or 147 pounds.
As for Davis, the WBA officially stripped him of his lightweight world title in January and designated him as a “champion in recess” after he was dealing with charges including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. Davis’ trainer Calvin Ford expects Tank to box this year, as Ryan wanted the rematch.
“I pray I get my rematch with Tank one day. I need that one back on even grounds. I need that,” Garcia said
