Ryan Garcia On Gervonta Davis: I’d Beat That Boy Down
Ryan Garcia wants to eventually go one-on-one with Gervonta Davis.
Garcia will be fighting for the interim WBC Lightweight Championship on December 5. Sharing the boxing ring with him will be Luke Campbell. If Garcia is successful in the fight, then he wants a showdown with Davis, who holds the WBA (Regular) gold.
Davis is coming off a sensational one-punch knockout victory over Leo Santa Cruz this past Saturday night, October 31. Garcia insists that the knockout victory didn’t deter him from wanting to share the ring with “Tank.”
During an interview with TMZ Sports, Garcia said he has what it takes to hand Davis his first career loss.
“I’m extremely confident I’d beat that boy down. He’s just a big bully.”
Garcia continued, saying that he hopes Davis doesn’t avoid fighting him because he believes the fight would be memorable.
“We all know we can both knock people out. We all know we can put people to sleep that don’t belong in the ring with us. But, one day we got to step up and go against someone who can also get slept. And, that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to get in there and give fans a fight they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Don’t run away from the specialness. I can hit like that too. I can hit like that too.”
Both Garcia and Davis are undefeated in their pro boxing careers. Garcia has a record of 20-0 with 17 knockouts to his credit. Davis is 24-0 with 23 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
