Star boxer Ryan Garcia and trainer Joe Goossen have parted ways after three fights, sources told ESPN, the last of which came vs. Gervonta Davis. The PPV event – Garcia’s first – was a massive commercial success. He’ll now campaign at 140 pounds, but no decision has been made on…

The alleged split comes after Garcia’s disappointing loss, where he sat out the referee’s count following a body shot by Davis in the seventh round.
Despite the anti-climax, the fight received 1.2 million pay-per-view buys. Garcia’s preparation for the Davis fight had been a topic of discussion following the loss.

Not only that, but Garcia’s former sparring partner, Erdenebat Tsendbaatar, also apologized for causing an injury to Garcia in sparring before the Davis fight, which adds to the speculation that Garcia may have fought with a mole in his camp.
While the exact reason for the apparent split between Garcia and Goossen is unknown, it is not uncommon for boxers to change trainers.
Regardless of the case, if Garcia wants to compete at 140 lbs, one thing for sure is that he will need a better performance next time.
