It seems a potential matchup between Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson may not come together because of a disagreement surrounding a rehydration clause.
Stevenson (25-0) is most recently coming off his win over Teofimo Lopez earlier this year, from which he earned the super lightweight world title. As a result of the match, Stevenson became the youngest four-division champion in boxing’s history, which certainly puts him in a position of power when it comes to negotiating fight terms.
Meanwhile, Garcia (25-2) defeated Mario Barrios last month in a strong unanimous decision, earning him the WBO welterweight title. Since earning the belt, Garcia seems to have gotten tougher to deal with when making fight deals, as stated by Devin Haney, who claims Garcia has become unreasonable in his demands since capturing the world title.

Now, Garcia has stated that he will refuse a rehydration clause being attached to any future bout of his, which was clearly pointed at Stevenson, who has been vocal in his request for this if the pair meet.
