Ryan Garcia Tells Gervonta Davis: ‘It’s Going To Be Very Bad For Him’
Ryan Garcia, 23, has once again found himself in the headlines after he issued a statement regarding the possible matchup between him and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
The Californian stated that it would be “bad for” Tank if the two go head-to-head in an expected December bout.
Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) is coming off a sixth-round knockout win over the old-timer Javier Fortuna last July in Los Angeles. Fortuna showed little resistance to Garcia’s powerful left hooks and was ultimately found wanting as the referee in charge Jerry Cantu called a stop to the fight with just 27 seconds on the clock in the sixth round.
“I can’t wait for you guys to see what I do to Tank if that goes down. It’s going to be very bad for him,” said Garcia on Social media. “I should have an update on my fight for you guys soon.
“It should be happening in December if all goes well. It’s going to be amazing. Trust me; I got this. I’m going all the way,” said Garcia.
Except for the English man, Luke Campbell, Garcia hasn’t fought any opponent of top stature.
During that bout, Campbell showed that Garcia was not untouchable as he landed a solid left in the opening round and sent Garcia crashing to the canvas.
But Garcia was quick to overcome his adversary later in the fight.
A fighter like Tank will pounce on such opportunities and will finish the job then and there as he did with Rolando Romero.
It’s unclear when or if the matchup will really happen.
