Ryan Garcia has agreed in principle to fight Rolando Romero for the WBA title at 140 lbs.
Garcia’s move up to 140 lbs, coupled with his new trainer Derrick James, could immediately pay off if the fight were to materialize.
Following Garcia’s loss to Gervonta Davis, there was a fear that he could be a long way away from fighting for a world title. But in Romero he could be given an unexpected opportunity.
The latter acquired the belt following his own loss to Davis when he won a controversial ninth-round knockout against Ismael Barroso after the referee’s decision to wave off the fight was slammed.
And given that the other champions in the division, Regis Prograis, Subriel Matias, and Josh Taylor, are deemed more dangerous, a Garcia-Rolly fight may suit both sides.
Okay rollies you asked for it
