Ryan Garcia’s Father Won’t Doubt His Son’s Second-Round KO Prediction Over Gervonta Davis
Ryan Garcia’s father is backing his son’s bold prediction.
Garcia, who is the newly-minted interim WBC Lightweight Champion, has been eyeing a showdown with WBA (Regular) Lightweight titleholder Davis. It’s clear that “KingRy” has confidence in his ability to get the job done. In fact, he predicts that he would finish “Tank” inside two rounds.
Garcia’s father, Henry, told Pro Boxing Fans that he can see his son following through on his promise (h/t BoxingScene.com).
“I totally agree with my son, I will always back up my son. If that’s what he foresees in the fight, he’s capable of doing it. I told him don’t worry if it doesn’t happen, don’t worry, I said but stay on task, which is becoming victorious. But for some reason Ryan’s got that in his mind, all he needs is two rounds so hey, I’m with him on that.”
Henry also expressed his belief that Garcia and Davis will end up sharing the ring. Henry noted that Ryan doesn’t want to wait too long. He also added that he believes Garcia is ready for the elite 135-pounders.
Garcia last competed in early January. He defeated Luke Campbell via seventh-round knockout to capture the interim WBC gold. Garcia overcame a second-round knockdown.
As for Davis, his last outing was in October 2020. “Tank” fought Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA (Super) Super-Featherweight Title. Davis also put his WBA gold on the line. “Tank” delivered a highlight-reel knockout in the sixth round when he landed a clean uppercut that sent Cruz to sleep.
