Salahdine Parnasse Stops Dan Hooker In UFC Debut

This weekend, in the main event of UFC Paris, Salahdine Parnasse made his highly anticipated debut and impressed the crowd with a stunning knockout of promotional veteran Dan Hooker.

Heading into the match, the former two-division KSW champion was coming off a strong victory over Kenny Cross on the undercard of Rousey vs. Carano in May. Following his last outing, which was his first match outside KSW since 2017, Parnasse decided to make the jump to the UFC, where he is already making quite a powerful impact in the lightweight division.

Right out of the gate in the opening round, Parnasse appeared to be stalking Hooker like prey, waiting for the right opportunity to put his striking prowess on full display. At roughly the half-way point of the round, the Frenchman found his time and started off a fight-finishing sequence with a nasty kick to the liver.

After a slight delay, the kick to the body made Hooker buckle over and wince in pain, and Parnasse noticed. He moved forward, delivering a high kick to his opponent, who now had his back against the octagon fence. The high kick was partially blocked, but the punches that followed were not, and Hooker dropped to the canvas following a well-timed left hook from the promotional debutant.

After a pair of follow-up shots to a nearly unconscious Dan Hooker, the referee was forced to intervene and stop the action at 1:34 of the very first round. During Parnasse’s time on the mic following the announcement of his victory, he took the opportunity to call out former featherweight champion and BMF titleholder Max Holloway.
