Reasons Why Canelo-GGG III Won’t Happen

In the eyes of Gennadiy Golovkin’s former trainer, Abel Sanchez, Canelo Alvarez’ personal dislike for the Russian boxer’s words leading up to their second fight is why the two will not have a trilogy fight.

Sanchez, who up until this year was Golovkin’s lead trainer, did his fair share of smack talking  in the lead up to both fights has an idea why Canelo may not want a trilogy with GGG.

“I think that we have said – we as in when I was with Gennadiy – our team said a lot of things that maybe he is taking personal but that is the game and how you build things up. I hope that they fight again. They had good fights the first two times,” Sanchez told BoxingScene.com.

On top of that, Sanchez knows Alvarez has his eyes set on some big challenges, including moving up two weight classes to light heavyweight.

“If that is the case Canelo has a lot of avenues he can go down where he doesn’t really need Gennadiy but he is taking a big leap in Kovalev and a big leap in say Callum Smith. Those are tough fights but he is a young man who wants to be tested.”
