Sanchez vs. Gall Booked for UFC 235
One of Mickey Gall’s callouts during his last bout in August was for a fight with The Ultimate Fighter season one winner Diego Sanchez. Now, Gall will get that opportunity.
The UFC has announced that Sanchez and Gall will face off in a welterweight bout at UFC 235, which takes place from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 2.
Sanchez has had a long up-and-down career since winning TUF‘s inaugural season and starting 21-2 before falling short in a 2009 lightweight title shot against B.J. Penn. Sanchez is now 29-11 and has lost six of the 11 bouts he’s had since 2013. Since moving back up to 170 last year, Sanchez was knocked out by Matt Brown in November 2017 before picking up a unanimous decision win over Craig White back at UFC 228 last September.
Five of Gall’s six professional bouts have come under the UFC banner, with his professional debut even being featured in the first official episode of Dana White’s Lookin’ for a Fight. Gall picked up submission wins over Mike Jackson, CM Punk and Sage Northcutt during 2016 before losing a unanimous decision to Randy Brown at UFC 217. He returned and rebounded back in August with a 69-second submission win over George Sullivan.
UFC 235 is scheduled to also see the UFC debut of Ben Askren against former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, the return of Nick Diaz against Jorge Masvidal and a women’s strawweight bout with Tecia Torres and Weili Zhang.
