Sandor Martin Steps In As Opponent For Teofimo Lopez

They will face each other on December 10 at Madison Square Garden.

Teofimo Lopez is facing a last-minute opponent.

Sandor Martin replaced Jose Pedraza for the main event against Lopez on December 10 at Madison Square Garden, according to Boxing Scene. Pedraza reportedly withdrew due to an illness that is not related to Covid-19 that he contracted during training camp.

Pedraza is expected to return to action sometime in the first few months of 2023.

Martin last fought this past April where he recorded a 10-round unanimous decision win against Jose Felix. But before that, he recorded his career-best victory when he upset Mikey Garcia with a 10-round majority decision win.

Lopez’s fight with Martin will mark his second contest at super lightweight. He had a successful debut in August against Pedro Campa, who he technically knocked out in the seventh round.

Lopez made his move up after losing his three lightweight titles to George Kambosos Jr in November 2021.
