Saudis Want Bivol To Fight Benavidez And Opetaia After Beterbiev

The Saudis want Dmitry Bivol to fight David Benavidez and Jai Opetaia if he gets past Artur Beterbiev.

Bivol boxes Beterbiev on October 12 for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Title. Beterbiev withdrew from the original June 1 date following a knee injury. Bivol stopped his replacement opponent, Malik Zinad, in round six. If Bivol beats Beterbiev, the Saudis want to make various other fights.

Benavidez is one of those names. The Mexican Monster will fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15 for the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight Title. If he is victorious, that makes him mandatory for Beterbiev or Bivol. Benavidez and Bivol have sparred each other before, with Benvaidez coming out on top.

“I sparred with Bivol at Churchill Boxing. And a lot of people have seen that. And they know what happened there. You can ask the witnesses,” Benavidez stated

Meanwhile, a fight with Opetaia could also take place. Opetia beat Mairis Briedis to secure the vacant IBF belt. Bivol has said he would move up to cruiserweight if he wins all the belts at 175.

“I want to finish business in my weight class. Then we can make fight,” Bivol stated
