Saunders Denied License, Title May Be Stripped
The worst case scenario has happened for Billy Joe Saunders, as the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission has denied his application to fight on October 20th.
Saunders was denied the license to defend his WBO middleweight title against Demetrius Andrade at TD Garden, because of a positive test for the PED oxilofrine.
When alerted of the test failure, Saunders and his team claimed the drug was in his system due to a nasal spray he used.
Per a report earlier on Tuesday, Eddie Hearn stated that Saunders will be stripped of the title, setting up for Andrade to face Walter Kautondokwa, the WBO #2 ranked middleweight in the main event of the October 20th card in Boston.
Katie Taylor vs. Cindy Serrano for the unified IBF and WBA women’s lightweight titles and Tevin Farmer vs. James Tennyson for the IBF super featherweight title, fill out the event airing on DAZN.
