Saunders Gets New Opponent For Return

In his first fight since being stripped of his WBO middleweight title, Billy Joe Saunders will have a new opponent on December 22nd.

Saunders, who last fought in December 2017 in a victory over David Lemieux, will return on the undercard for Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton’s featherweight title fight on Saturday at Manchester Arena. Saunders was originally set to face Zoltan Sera in a super middleweight fight, but was pulled due to unannounced reasons.

Instead, the former middleweight champion will face off against 41-year old Charles Adamu, who has lost his last three fights. Saunders was initially set to return to the ring against Demetrius Andrade in October of this year, but was suspended by the WBO for testing positive for a banned substance by VADA.
