Saunders Takes Down Isufi For Super Middleweight Gold

Saunders v. Isufi Results

It was a one-sided affair for Super-Middleweight gold as Billy Joe Saunders outclassed Shefat Isufi for the vacant WBO Super Middleweight Title. Inside Lamex Satidum in Stevenage, England, Saunders beat Isufi via unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the bout 117-111, 118-110 and 120-108.

Saunders had momentum heading into the bout, with lineal champion Tyson Fury by his side to cheer him on.

It wasn’t much of a battle for Saunders (28-0), who worked around Isufi (27-4-2) with punches to the center all throughout the bout. Saunders’ style made it easy for him to move. In a sense, this fight was his way to face Callum Smith down the line.

Saunders worked the body of Isufi and at one point was throwing combination punches to the body.

While Isufi lasted the entire fight, the end result was inevitable. Saunders ended up winning the vacant Super Middleweight Title. The ESPN+-ran card went by as the three fights beforehand ended via TKO.

With the win, Saunders controls the super middleweight division, and may even consider a move to middleweight.
