Savannah Marshall Vs. Claressa Shields II Is Officially In Works

Shields avenged her loss by defeating Marshall in October.

Savannah Marshall has opened up about her rematch clause, confirming that she will fight Claressa Shields again in 2023.

Speaking to hosts of a TV show, Marshall confirmed that she has reactivated the match clause when she was asked about her plans for the coming year.

Shields clinched an animous decision win when they last clashed at the O2 Arena in October.

Marshall wants to fight in front of the home crowd once again.

“It would be in the summer so it doesn’t clash with the football season,” the 31-year-old said as she expressed her desire to hold the fight at St James’ Park which has a capacity of over 52,000.

Shields, who has had a beef with the boxer since 2012, did not approve of the location though. She wants to now fight in the US.

Marshall and Shields are 1-1 in terms of their scores. Marshall got the first win when they fought in 2012 as amateurs.

This was Shield’s last loss ever since. The 31-year-old has since picked up two Olympic gold medals, and world titles in three different weight classes after turning professional.

She has already been deemed as one of the best women boxers of all time.
